Marine Band sets free Carrollton concert for October 24

The City Menus reported on September 22, 2026, that the United States Marine Band will give a free concert at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center in Carrollton. Students, families, and other residents can request free tickets, with a limit of four per request, starting September 24. The concert is set for October 24 at 7:30 p.m. at 775 Old Newnan Road.

The City Menus published a press release on September 22, 2026. The byline names Ben Chambers. The release says "The President's Own" United States Marine Band will perform for the first time at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center, 775 Old Newnan Road in Carrollton. The concert is part of the band's National Concert Tour. It is free, and it is set for October 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The release points readers to www.marineband.marines.mil/Tour for full details. It says free tickets are available starting September 24, with a limit of four per request. Seating is general admission. Ticket holders must be seated 15 minutes before the concert starts. Remaining seats are released to a standby line at that time. The release says the venue has a clear bag policy for guests.

Marine Band Director Lt. Col. Ryan Nowlin is quoted saying, "We are incredibly excited to continue the tradition of our national concert tour." He said the musicians are eager to play live and in person on this year's tour. The release says Nowlin programmed selections in the style of the band's 17th director, John Philip Sousa, who started the tour tradition in 1891. It says concertgoers can expect traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary compositions, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.

Nowlin also said patrons come for many different experiences, so the programs include a wide mix of music that reflects the nation's musical heritage. The release says President Benjamin Harrison first allowed Sousa to tour the country in 1891. It says these concerts have carried a White House experience from Washington, D.C., to audiences across the country. During this 30-day National Concert Tour, the band will perform 27 concerts in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.

The release says the Marine Band is America's oldest continuously active professional musical organization. It was founded in 1798 and has performed for every U.S. president since John Adams. It has been known as "The President's Own" since the days of Thomas Jefferson. Its mission is to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

What we know: The September 22, 2026, City Menus release says the free Marine Band concert is October 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center, 775 Old Newnan Road in Carrollton. Free tickets start September 24, with a limit of four per request.

What we don't: The release does not spell out the clear bag rules, and it does not say whether tickets will remain on the day of the concert.
